Whale watching out of Cabo San Lucas was the first adventure on our 10-night Mexican Riviera cruise and visiting an artisan village on the outskirts of Mazatlan was our second.
Margaritas plus more whales than we could count... what more could we ask of Cabo? Throw in lands end, wildlife, beaches, a beautiful bay, and a majestic water view of our ship, Radiance of the Seas, and we couldn't have asked for a more perfect day.
We had preplanned a land excursion for each port on the cruise. We intentionally planned a different type of encounter at each port for variety and each turned out to be more wonderful than the previous.
From the port at Mozatlan we drove to a mountain artisan village to explore a quaint leather factory. We watched craftsmen design and hand tool leather goods such as purses, sandals, belts, holsters, and even intricate saddles. We walked around the town square and enjoyed visiting a small tortilla factory.
On the way back to town we visited a colorful and historic tequila factory where we learned the still hand guided process of making tequila. Topping off this educational tour was tequila tasting in a gorgeous shaded setting with craft shops to hold our attention.
Alcapulco's famed divers and Aztec style dancers were everything their promotion had promised...and more. The scenery was breathtaking and, as with most of the photo opportunities during the cruise, it was almost impossible to get a bad photo.
Ixtapa proved to be the most magnificent for photographs from the ship. The homes and buildings along the bay were awesome and bursting with blooms and foliage. On this stop we visited 3 bays and two pristine beaches while in the Ixtapa area. This area received my vote for the most photogenic.
Our most anticipated land excursion was for the sea lion encounter in Puerto Vallarta. Our expectations couldn't have been better met than with this fun-loving, sociable animals. What a fun time we had!!
Here are a few of my favorite photos from our various land excursions. It was very difficult to pare hundreds of photos down to these few. Enjoy!
